Most people believe that in order to live their best life they need more of this….
(Do you know what it is?)
TIME.
I wonder if you’re among the majority on this one… I mean, think of the possibilities if you could just get a little more time!
25 hours a day, or 8 days in a week! Man! You could totally CRUSH it, right?!
All those dreams you wanna chase…
All those phone calls you wanna make…
All those chances to “pause” just to take a stinkin’ nap…!
What in the world would you do if you waved a magic wand and were able to get that great wish of “more time” ?
Well – ‘round these parts, we don’t live in Fantasy Land too long… We live in real life, and that’s what we’re working with today.
Sound good?
[And all my people started nodding their heads ‘yes!’ because they’re sick of being sold Fantasy Land ideas and coming out empty on the other end. I see you; I got you!]
You know just as well as I do that there’s no magic wand, so we’ve gotta do the best we can with the time we’ve got.
A lot of times we think the fix is adding something IN to our lives, but here – I’m gonna hit you with what you need to start cutting OUT of your life.
Are you ready for it?
The real, raw truth: you need to slow your roll with social media.
(Or should I say, “Slow your SCroll…” ?! 🤣 HAHAH! Yeah, I laugh at my own jokes! 🤣)
Now now – before you want to come at me with the “I’m not on social media” line –
- 1)If that’s TRUE, let me high-five you! 👋🏼 That’s pretty amazing! In fact, that statistically means that you are among the TEN PERCENT of Americans who aren’t on it.
- But 2) If you aren’t on social, you’re likely one of us with the tv on (like, to the tune of four and a half hours a day on average, my friend).
Don’t shoot me – I’m just tossing the facts out here.
But- if I were a betting girl -(I’m not, because I’m too cheap for that) – but if I were, I’d bet that you’re among the 90% of Americans who spend time on social media… every day.
“Well, how much time, Amanda?” you ask.
Good question!
And like a good friend, I made a graphic for you!
Check it out!
You guys- that’s NUTS!
Look at the average number of minutes and hours and WEEKS just keep growing year after year!
This year (2023) the average person spends 151 minutes of their day on social media. Pick your platform… Where are you hanging out? Where are you giving that kind of time to?
That means that by the end of the year, if you’re an average user, you’ll have given over 918 hours of your *precious* time to scrolling your chosen feed….
Scroll scroll scroll….

If you were putting that kind of time in to work – meaning, if you were breaking that hourly use down to see how many 40 hour work weeks it would add up to – (well, you’ve already seen it in the graphic but DANG!) – that would be equal to 23 work weeks just chillin on that phone, working out your scroll-thumb… 🤯
Can I tell you one other little tidbit just to put this into perspective? (Not that you haven’t heard enough, but… I mean… this is good!)
If you started working your average 40 hour work weeks in January, and you just kept showing up – clocking in, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week – every hour you spent at work from January to mid-June would be the same amount of time the average user is spending on social media this year.

Ok ok ok! Listen to me Linda!
(If that reference doesn’t make sense to you, you have to check this out when you’re done reading this. It’ll make you laugh- and that’s not a bad thing. 😉)
MY WHOLE POINT IS THIS:
You have to work with reality, and the reality is you aren’t going to magically get more time.
But you CAN take ownership of the time you already have.
And one very simple, easy, super-achievable way to *BOOM* have more time – to rest, build your dream life, do the stuff that actually matters, etc. – is to simply nix some of that social media time (or all of it, for that matter).
You’d be surprised how much it makes a difference, not just in productivity, but in your sanity for crying out loud!
In your mental health.
In your bank account (if those ads for personalized jewelry or custom USA made crafts seem to get ya… Ask me how I know!).
What do you have to lose?
For real – your thumb is skinny enough, it doesn’t need the workout…
If you were a betting girl (or guy), would you be audacious enough to bet on yourself?
I sure hope so.
Give your dream life a chance by gifting it the gift of time.
I have a funny feeling you won’t regret it.
